James is a designer, strategist, and front-end developer. At Upstatement he helps design and build everything from editorial websites to digital products, design systems, and data visualizations.
His work has been recognized by The Anthem Awards, Communication Arts, The Society of Publication Designers, Siteinspire, Typewolf, and The Webby Awards.
He holds an MFA in graphic design from The Yale School of Art, has taught digital design at Watkins College of Art in Nashville, and has served as a visiting critic at Boston University.
