About
Accessible, SEO-optimized websites can be awesome, man.
I'm a creative developer with a lengthy background in design and studio art. I used to be on the design team at Moog synthesizers. I used to teach typesetting and letterpress printing. I make experimental, improvisational music. I approach every site build with the same sense of play, curiosity, and pixel-perfect precision that I bring to all my creative work. That's why I co-founded History of Salad, a design studio and internet marketing agency, with my copywriting-and-SEO-wizard partner, Whitney Gilchrist.
Accessibility features aren't add-ons; they're a necessary step in imagining and building a better world than the one we have now.
I've been involved in the disabilities community my entire life, thanks to my awesome oldest brother (he has a severe seizure disorder). People with disabilities—and their strung-out, underpaid caretakers—use the internet, too, so let's try our best to build things that make immediate sense to as many people as possible. I love talking and learning about this stuff, so please reach out if you want to trade some knowledge and experience. :)
A web developer who's covered in actual ink.
I also run an award-winning indie publishing house and printmaking studio called Drum Machine Editions, where I collaborate with artists, musicians, and writers to design and publish genre-defying artists' books and works on paper. Our publications have been featured in over a dozen international art book fairs and are housed in public and private collections in the USA, Canada, France, UK, and Norway.
